TIC Fishing Day at Tingley
Students, Teachers, and Parents involved in the Bosque Chapter TU Trout in
the Classroom program are invited to attend a free fishing day at Tingley
Beach on Saturday March 21, 2026 between 9:00 -1:00. Rods, bait and
fishing instruction will be offered by the NM Department of Wildlife.
Everyone will gather on the Northside of the middle pond near the
Boathouse. A free lunch with snacks and drinks will be provided. Please

Bosque Chapter TU Partnering With Rio Grand Return
WHAT IS RIO GRANDE RETURN:
Rio Grande Return will be holding a volunteer workday on the second Wednesday for the month on April 8, 2026 from 10-3:00. Specific information on this riverscape restoration project will be forthcoming.
Rio Grande Return has been creating beaver habitat on creeks by planting willows, constructing exclosure fencing, and building beaver dam analogs and post-assisted log structures, but there is much work to be done.

Little Turkey Creek Restoration in the Gila National Forest
Camp out in the beautiful Gila National Forest and help restore a critical Gila trout stream! Please plan join the Gila/Rio Grande Chapter of Trout Unlimited for habitat restoration work on Little Turkey Creek in the Gila National Forest! This multi-day volunteer camping trip will be focused on willow planting.

Casting For Recovery Film Festival
The Bosque Chapter will be partnering with Casting for Recovery on a Fly Fishing Film Festival on Saturday May 9 from 1:00-5:00 PM at the UNM Continuing Education Conference Center, 1634 University Blvd NE. This will be recruiting event for the Albuquerque Area.
What is Casting for Recovery?
The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer through oncology-informed retreats. These retreats connect women to each other and to nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—and are offered at no cost to participants.

The Bosque Chapter will be holding an annual Membership Meeting with Guest Speaker, Norm Maktima. Norm will talk about his involvement as a coach with the US Women's Fly Fishing Team. We will have FREE Pizza and will be raffling off some great items.

NMLA Fly Tying Session
Our March meeting will be at the brand new San Juan Rod Works storefront in Rio Rancho. Save the date for this one - March 18 th 5:30 - 7:00pm. The address is 12 Unser Blvd. SE. Suite B, Rio Rancho, NM. 87124
For this meeting, we will learn how to tie nymph, dry fly, and streamer rigs. I'll have materials you can use - but bring tippet (5x will work), nippers / clippers, and glasses if you need them to see. You will leave with several "rigs" to fish on different waters.

The Bosque Chapter will be holding a FREE introductory Fly Fishing 101 Class for beginner Fly Fishers. The class will be held on Saturday, March 14, from 8:30-4:00 PM at the Goodwill Building on 5000 San Mateo NE. No equipment necessary, first come first served, and it's BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch). Outdoor Adventures Show
The Bosque Chapter TU will be having a booth at the New Mexico Wildlife's Outdoor Adventures Show at Expo New Mexico. Our booth will be located in the Manual Lujan Jr Building from Friday, February 14, at noon to Sunday February 16 at 5:00 PM.
We invite all those attending to come by and meet Board Members, learn about New Mexico Lady Anglers(NMLA), our Fly & Vets Program, Trout in the Classroom, Fly Fishing 101 Classes, and talk fly fishing and learn about our conservation efforts in New Mexico.

Bosque Trout Unlimited Speaker Series
Join us for our first of our quarterly speaker series at Marble Brewery 9904 Montgomery Bl NE from 5:30 -7:30PM. Our speaker is Kevin Terry, southwest Program Director in Trout Unlimited’s Rocky Mountain Region. Kevin’s presentation will focus on projects in Southern Colorado and New Mexico. Kevin will include information on the special places where people can fish for our native trout.
There will be a food truck on site.

The Bosque Chapter will be hosting its 2nd Annual Spring Membership Picnic on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 11 AM to 2 PM. This will be a FREE, fun, family event. Bring the family, your camping chairs, socialize and the fly rod if you like.

Jemez River Clean Up
Join Bosque Chapter Trout Unlimited July 13th as we bring the community together for our annual river clean up day in Jemez! This is a family friendly event and all lending hands are greatly appreciated!
Make sure to bring nourishment (food/water), work gloves, warm clothing (layers), muck boots/hiking boots, hat/sunscreen. Water and snacks will be provided as well as additional beverages by SideTrack Brewing Co.
